Latchi is a picturesque fishing village, stretching along the north-west coast of Cyprus, and famous for the excellent seafood restaurants which line the pretty harbour.
The mile-long, sandy beach, with a pebbled shoreline, has plenty of facilities but is one of the less crowded on the island. It is edged by the beautiful Akamis National Park, where nature lovers will be in their element amongst the wildlife and rare, endemic flora, and ramblers will find delightful countryside to explore, while the region is also popular for cycling and horse riding, with well-established trails.
The lovely little neighbouring village of Milou has natural springs, said to have healing properties.
Romance is very much part of the local heritage and legend has it that in a cave close to Latchi, on the Akamas Peninsula, Aphrodite, the Goddess of Beauty and Love, would meet her lover Adonis. Visitors to the natural pools named the Baths of Aphrodite (Loutra tis Afroditis), will find a few facilities and a beach nearby, so just soak up the love when considering a wedding in a region which enjoys year-round sunshine.
