A 30 minute trip from Thassos Town (Limenas) over the mountains comes first to Panagia with its view across the olive groves which cover the sweep down, through the village of Potamia to the bay and the small harbour at Skala Potamias.
The bay offers over two miles of beach walking from Skala Potamia harbour at the southern end up to Golden Beach to the north. There are plenty of bars and tavernas along the beach front, open from from morning till late, whether for a quiet drink whilst watching the world go by or for a meal to remember.
