Description
Head just 12 kilometres south of the airport and eight kilometres south of Lassi and you’ll find the peaceful resort of Svoronata on the west coast of Kefalonia. Scenic and dreamy, sprinkled liberally with olive groves, lush green valleys and undulating hills, Svoronata holidays are a nature lovers dream destination and also full of old-world charm.
You can choose between three worthy beaches, within a 15-40 minute walk, depending on where you are staying, and all offering something different. If you’re looking for a quiet beach, the narrow, sandy one at Ammes is calling out to you, however you need to be mindful of the strong sea currents here. The pink sandy beach of Ai Helis in contrast, lies just south beyond the cape, where steep stone steps lead down to an invitingly secluded bay. Further round the headland and you’ll come to Avithos which has an agreeably long beach, silky sands and clear shallow water perfect for swimming.
The village itself is a mile inland and consists of winding streets where you can dine on mouthwatering meze at one of the family run tavernas before retiring in comfort to your chosen hotel. If you’re looking for nightlife then Lassi and Argostoli are easily reached by car but you’ll be so chilled out with a holiday to Svoronata you might never want to leave.
