Lourdas in on the west coast of Kefalonia, 14 km from the airport and 16 km from the capital Argostoli. The coastline is dotted with small coves and secluded beaches, many of which can be reached only by sea, so rent a small boat to savour the natural beauty of the region.
Eagle’s Nest is also within easy reach of Myrtos Beach, Poros and Sami, where you can take a ferry to nearby Ithaca. Check out Pessada village with its lovely secluded beach and from Pessada a small ferry runs regularly to Zante.
Lourdas is a walkers’ paradise; go north from the beach to nearby villages while in the south there is Sissia monastery, the ruins of a former monastery and a wild, natural beach to explore.
Mount Ainos is a nature reserve where you may see wild horses and eagles soaring above on the warm air currents.
