How will the traffic light system work?

Green

Arrivals will need to take a pre-departure test as well as a PCR test on or before day 2 of your arrival back into England - but will not need to quarantine or self isolation on return (unless they receive a positive result) or take any additional tests.

Amber

Arrivals will need to self isolate at home for a period of 10 days and take a pre-departure test, and a PCR test on day 2 and day 8 with the option for Test to Release on day 5 to end self-isolation early.

Red

Arrivals will be subject to restrictions currently in place for red list countries which include a 10-day quarantine in a managed quarantine hotel, pre-departure testing and PCR testing on day 2 and 8. If you have a holiday booked to a destination on the red list, you may amend or cancel your holidays.

Additionally, for all holidays

You must complete a passenger locator form online before you arrive in the UK. It’s free to submit the form. You can submit the form any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in the UK. You’ll need to show your form when you check in to travel or board your plane to the UK.

Please refer to UK Government Foreign Travel Advice website for further updates. We recommend that you sign up for the FCDO travel advice email alert, so you automatically receive the latest travel alert for the destination you are travelling to.  You must have adequate travel insurance in place for your holiday.

Please ensure you take an adequate supply of face masks or other acceptable face covering as you will be asked to wear these throughout your journey. That means in the airport, on your flights, on your transfers and possibly on holiday too. You may be asked to have your temperature taken or undergo other checks at the airport.
