Samaria Gorge

Samaria Gorge, about one hour's drive from Chania, cuts an impressive swathe through the White Mountains in west Crete and is teeming with flora and fauna. You can walk it, but be warned, it's rough, rocky terrain and can take about seven hours to cover its full 16km length.
